Description

This is “God is not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything” by Christopher E. Hitchens, 2007, with 320 pages. It is a rare signed-and-dated first-edition second-printing hardbound copy. It was very likely signed in Raleigh, North Carolina at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh (UUFR) because it is accompanied by a tri-fold UUFR welcome card with penciled notes, and because the date inscribed by Mr. Hitchens (15.V.2007) coincides with the date of his debate at UUFR with Adam English (May 15, 2007). This date has extra significance for being the day Jerry Falwell died. That night, Hitchens appeared on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360° to discuss Falwell’s legacy. The next day, Slate published “Faith-Based Fraud,” Hitchens’s scathing obituary for Falwell. And later that night, Hitchens appeared on Hannity & Colmes to participate in one of the few truly enjoyable episodes of the program. Highlights include a flustered and flailing Sean Hannity, multiple mentions of a toddler in Times Square, and Hitchens ending the conversation with “If you gave Falwell an enema he could be buried in a matchbox.” This book is in very good condition. It has been read. It was purchased at The Reader’s Corner in Raleigh, North Carolina, and comes with the bookmark that was included at the time of purchase, and the aforementioned UUFR welcome card. North Carolina residents add 5.75% sales tax. Cashier's check or money order preferred for quicker shipment. A personal check is OK but item will be held for check to clear.
